Childcare

A simple guide for newcomer families on childcare, before and after school care, EarlyON centres, and child benefits.

Childcare Basics

Childcare can include daycare, home childcare, before-school care, and after-school care. Some programs have waitlists, so it helps to search early.

Ask if the childcare is licensed, what the fees are, what meals are included, and what happens if your child is sick.

If your child is school age, ask the school about before and after school programs.

Family Supports

EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer programs for families and young children. Families may also be able to apply for benefits such as the Canada child benefit.

Keep your child’s documents, school information, health card information, and emergency contacts together.

Ask a settlement agency or school office if you need help understanding forms.

Search near your city or postal code

Enter your city, address, or postal code. Then choose what kind of childcare or family support you want to find. Results will open in Google Maps.

MapleLanding does not recommend or verify childcare providers. Search results open in Google Maps.
